Building a Generation of Young People that Practice a Healthy Democracy Using Soccer (Football)

YARAC uses Soccer to organise and connect young people around Democratic issues, Conflict issues, HIV/AIDs, Community organising and other relevant activities that will enable young people contribute to their immediate communities in Jos Plateau State Nigeria.

Volunteering stories

Six Canadian young people (Lori Ryan, Natasha Halpin, Tara Hurford, Mandisa Peterson, Innah Gaspar and Tana Kayler) sacrificed their savings and summer holiday for an experience sharing visit to YARAC Nigeria in July 2008. During the visit they interacted with youth groups working with YARAC and experienced YARAC technique on Soccer for Democracy and transformative theatre to do community organizing for a period of three weeks.

Commissioner for Education in Plateau State Nigeria
